I am Helen Claassen, an artist from the Eastern Freestate in South Africa.
Growing up in a small town called Petrus Steyn, on a farm with the name of SUCCESS, rooted me in the soil of this area.
I opened my own gallery in Clarens in 2005, but I have been selling on and off since 1997 in this famous little town, nestled between the Maluti and Drakensberg mountains.
My childhood love of art translated into a career in 1986 when I picked up the brush and palette full time.
You will find my paintings ranging from landscapes, still lives, portraits and fancifull character ensembles, through which I try to communicate the principles of hope, peace and love.
I am married and still live in the Petrus Steyn area, on a farm called Wonderfontein, with my husband and two sons.
We live in a quintessential sandstone house where I am able to strike a fruitful balance between my career and my family. I believe being an artist makes me a better wife and mother, and being a wife and mother makes me a better artist.
